InternalCompass was one of my first of the series of paintings that I started working on. I had just moved to Morgan Hill, California back in 1998 was getting settled there for a volunteer job I opted to do after college. It was rather comical, here I go to a college to be trained in Communication Arts, acquire my BA degree, and now I was wondering what the purpose was. Was that it? Was this all there was, I go to school, then start working for a corporation and that is it? I was really trying to find the purpose and the meaning behind it all. I was trying to find out what made me feel satisfied in my life.
InternalCompass was about my search for finding my place on the inside. Where do I go from here? What steps do I take? I was opening up myself to a whole new path without limitations and literally going off of intuition to find out what I should do next. During moments of uncertainty I found that listening proposed clarity and direction. My painting was the quiet result.
